At About the time our school was started, there were close to twenty families living in the greater Grassy Park area.

Grassy Park EC Primary School (Formerly known as the All Saints Mission School, Zeekoevlei) was opened by Mr. Frederick Kannemeyer on the 13^th February 1912 with one teacher and twenty three learners. At the time, our school was the only place of learning on the Cape Flats.

Operating out of one wood and iron building, the school had no electricity and no taps for running water. There were no tarred roads in the areas with only a gravel road from Plumstead Station to Southfield’s Bridge for the rest of the area there were lots of sand tracks.

One should appreciate the fact that there were no books available as we have today. Back then our learners had to write in the sand and later the children were given slates to write on.

Until as late as 1953, Grassy Park EC Primary School also offered classes up to Grade Eight (Standard Six). This was also the year that the school’s uniform was introduced together with the school’s badge (designed by Dr. C. Reddy) which is still being used today.

In 1959, the school put its concept of the road safety to practical use by introducing our school’s first scholar patrol.

When we look back today on EC’s illustrious past achievements we know that the school will continue with its proud traditions and strive to make valuable contributions in the areas of education, sport and religion.
